What is a Will?
When you pass away, your Last Will and Testament takes effect and outlines important decisions regarding your estate. Your Will appoints your executor(s) who is responsible for carrying out your wishes. Your Will lists your beneficiaries and how your estate will be distributed. If you have children, your Will appoints the guardian of those children.
What is a Power of Attorney for Property?
This is legal document that appoints one or more persons to deal with your property in the same manner you would be able to. The Power of Attorney for Property is effective in life the moment it is signed by you. It allows your appointed person(s) to manage your affairs like your bank account or real estate, if you are unable to act.
What is a Power of Attorney for Personal Care?
This is legal document that appoints one or more persons to make decisions for you if you are physically or mentally incapable and this includes the ability to give consent to treatment(s) or consent to withhold treatment(s) pertaining to your physical care. The Power of Attorney for Personal Care is effective in life the moment it is signed by you. It provides peace of mind that the right person is making decisions for you when you cannot.
